Museum for Endeavor

The main concept of design was for this building to conceal the massive nature of its subject, thus to surprise its visitors at the end of their journey, upon entering the main exhibit, to see the Endeavor as the great piece of art. The shape of the building is a result of site analysis, program organization and structure. The pyramid shaped main exhibit is a result of shuttles height and the clear view field needed to see the shuttle in one frame. Later in the process of design, the connecting building was added to serve both as, a connection to CSC and lobby area whilst shaping the entry from Rose garden and the central plazza. The central courtyard is an attempt to create an open area activity hub for the visitors whilst transferring light to the lowest parts of the exhibit. The museum houses the shuttle so to create an imaginary underground world for those curious in exploration.
